Case 22/Picture 24 (31.12.2014.) Could you identify the picture?Answer
This is a picture of an eight-year-old boy with disproportionately big hands.
An eight-year-old Indian boy has left doctors puzzled, apparently his hands swelled to super freaky proportions and now weigh more than his head. The young boy named Kaleem lives in India and sadly he is unable to carry out simple tasks, including tying his own shoe laces. When he was born he already then and there had hands twice the size of an average baby. His mother Haleema, 27, said she knew her son was different from the day he was born, but she was powerless and her son’s hands have now grown so big they measure more than 12 inches from the base of his palm to the end of his index finger. As it stands, each of Kaleem’s hands weigh about 17 pounds and stretch out a little over a foot long from his wrist. Fortunately doctors believe that Kaleem may be suffering from lymphangioma or hamartoma-which are both treatable conditions. However, Dr. Krishan Chugh, head of pediatrics at the state-of-the-art Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurgaon, near Dehli, adds that Kaleem’s case is very rare.
