The cartoon in themedideas logo was drawn by Miss Surovi Paul at the age of four. She drew multiple cartoons spontaneously in a diary. This one looked quite catchy to me and I had decided to incorporate it into themedideas logo as I was planning to launch the website. Therefore, I included the theme of themedideas “Knowledge is power” and had transformed the cartoon to the logo.

This sketch was drawn by Ms Niranjana Mahalingam, Stage 3 MBBS student at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) on 12.02.2014. just prior to the commencement of our seminar on “Infertility”. The idea and the name (Cuterus) indicate her excellent creative talent given that it was done instantly in less than a minute in front of us without the scope of much thinking. The picture was taken by Ms Jezzmin Ashknaz Atthi, Stage 3 MBBS student at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed).

“Be shak!

Mittike banda asman ko chhuna chahte hai

Isi khwaish me rahte hai ke

Kabhi to asman se pari mitti par utregi

Lekin ye bhi saach hai ke

Samjhne ke liye jan pahechan bhi joruri hai”

English translation “Desire”

“Sure!

He is unknown, therefore he doesn’t understand.

An earthy dwarf wants to touch the sky.

He lives with the desire that

Some day, the fairy would descend from the sky to the earth.

But its true that

To understand, you need to know each other.”

Artabit No 5. Art originated about 40,000 years ago in Asia – Indonesian evidence (09.10.2014.)

[expand title=”Read”]

Earliest paintings Indonesia

“Scientists have identified some of the earliest cave paintings produced by humans. The artworks are in a rural area on the Indonesian Island of Sulawesi. Until now, paintings this old had been confirmed in caves only in Western Europe. Researchers tell the journal Nature that the Indonesian discovery transforms ideas about how humans first developed the ability to produce art. Australian and Indonesian scientists have dated layers of stalactite-like growths that have formed over coloured outlines of human hands. Early artists made them by carefully blowing paint around hands that were pressed tightly against the cave walls and ceilings. The oldest is at least 40,000 years old. There are also human figures, and pictures of wild hoofed animals that are found only on the island. Dr Maxime Aubert, of Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, who dated the paintings found in Maros in Southern Sulawesi, explained that one of them was probably the earliest of its type.

 Oldest painting Indonesia

“The minimum age for (the outline of the hand) is 39,900 years old, which makes it the oldest hand stencil in the world,” said Dr Aubert.

“Next to it is a pig that has a minimum age of 35,400 years old, and this is one of the oldest figurative depictions in the world, if not the oldest one,” he told BBC News.

There are also paintings in the caves that are around 27,000 years old, which means that the inhabitants were painting for at least 13,000 years. In addition, there are paintings in a cave in the regency of Bone, 100 km north of Maros. These cannot be dated because the stalactite-like growths used to determine the age of the art do not occur. But the researchers believe that they are probably the same age as the paintings in Maros because they are stylistically identical. The discovery of the Indonesian cave art is important because it shows the beginnings of human intelligence as we understand it today.”

Artabit No 11. True Story of a “Man”

Manna Dey Songs (Bengali) in relation to a person who left a job many years ago and eventually went back to the same place to work ! (24.10.2014., Manna Dey’s Death anniversary; it was a co-incidence that this was written today without realising that it was his Death Anniversary before the initial publication)

One of my friends came to the UK from India and had worked as a Staff Grade (Medical Officer) in a hospital after a couple of years of Senior House Officer job in another hospital. As a Staff Grade the potential for further progress in career was bleak. Therefore, he decided to leave the job to work as Specialist Registrar in FTTA posts with a dream to get Type 1 Specialist Registrar job that would allow him to work as a Consultant in the UK. To do that he had to leave his family at the place where he was working as a Staff Grade as he had bought a house there and his children were settled in the local school . He did not want to disturb his children’s life and education. Therefore, he kept his family there. He worked in various places all over the UK, and had eventually got the CCT and a Consultant job in a remote place far away from his home. For 10 years, he could not even go home regularly because of the distance. At last he managed to get a Consultant job in the previous hospital near his home where his family was living. This composition is dedicated to his dedication and glorious achievement that have been associated with so much of pain and hardship during his incredible journey through the life.

“Jakhon keu amake pagol bole” Listen

16. The Chairman of the Deanery Training Committee had also explained the hard reality:

“Ami phul na hoye Kanta hoyei besh chhilam” Listen

20. He was getting multiple offers for FTTA jobs that he was not aiming to do:

“Rangini koto mon

Chai na chai na chai na”

Listen

21. Eventually he got the Type 1 job and was ecstatic:

“Ak-i onge ato roop

Dekhini to age”

Listen

22. The euphoria, however, did not last long due to the hardship and other difficulties associated with the Type 1 job:

“Ki cheyechhi are ki je pelam

Sandher prodeep jaalte giye

Nijei aami puhre gelam”

Listen

23. After completing training and getting CCT the search for a Consultant job started:

“Shaono rate jodi

Listen

24. He worked as a locum Consultant in a hospital for a while and occasionally had expressed his intention to move to a better job as a ploy to get the permanent Consultant job there:

“E to raag noy go E je abhiman” Listen

25. But he was denied the permanent Consultant job there. It was very upsetting for him:

“Besh to tai hok

Dekha noy tai hok

Listen

26. After working as a locum Consultant in another hospital he got a permanent Consultant job:

“Jahroar jhumko theke ekta moti

Ami, kuhriye niyechhi …

Sokolei dekhbe amar onamikar

“Jani tomar premer joggyo ami to noi

Pachhe bhalo bese phalo tai

Dure dure roi

Kato peyala lanchhonar

Listen

32. In the mean time he realised the truth about life:

“Jodi kagoje lekho nam

Pathor kwoye jabe

Hridoye lekho nam

Listen

33. He discovered other interests outside his job:

“Chand dekte giye ami

Listen

34. He carried on with his life:

“Aami niralay bose

Bedhechhi amar Swapono been”

Listen

35. He continued to feel nostalgic about his old hospital near his home:

“Katodin dekhini tomay

Tobu mone pahre tabo mukhokhani”

Listen

36. He started realising that it would be better to move to his old hospital near his home:

“Deep chilo, shikha chilo

Sudhu tumi chhilena bole

Alo jollo na

Bhasha chhilo, kotha chhilo

Kachhe dakle na bole

Mon kotha bollo na

Jharna kemone hoy nodi

Listen

37. He decided to move to his old hospital near his home as it would be complimentary to each other:

“Amar na jodi thake sur

Tomar achhe

Tumi ta debe”

Listen

38. He was informed that a Consultant job in his old hospital near his home might become available

“Ei kule ami ar oi kule tumi

Listen

39. Eventually a Consultant job in his old hospital near his home became available. He was a bit apprehensive, in case:

“O Chand

Samle rakho jochhonake

Karo najor lagte pare

Megheder uhro chithi

Uhreo to aste pare

Jholmol koriyo na go

“Na na jeona

O shesh pata go

Shakhay tumi thako”

Listen

41. Before the interview a lot of mixed thoughts came to his mind regarding the interview:

“O amar mon jamunar

Onge onge bhabtarange kotoi khela

Bondhu ki teere bosei modhur hese

dekhbe sudhu sara bela”

Listen

42. He was offered the job of his life:

“Ei eto alo eto akash

Age dekhini

Koi chokhe pohreni

Sara jibon pabar ashay

Du hat petechhi …

Egiye jabar sapno niye

Egiye jete chai”

Listen

43. His response to the interview panel:

“Ki dekhle tumi amate …

Amar onubhob bina, ei onubhuti

Kauke jay na shekhano …

Birat prithibi, dikey dikey koto ayojon

Ami ki kore bojhai, tomake peyechi

Aar kichu nei proyojon”

Listen

44. The management in the hospital he was working was obviously upset when he had told them that he would leave the job:

“Tumi nijer mukhei bolle jedin

Satyi kono kichhu noi

Ami dukkho peleo

Khushi holam jene”

“তুমি নিজের মুখেই বললে যেদিন

Original song lyrics

দেখেছি অনেক তারার ভীড় ;

Artabit No 16. Song of the Schoolbus (03.12.2014.)

Every morning millions of children stand and wait anxiously at the road-side for their schoolbuses to take them to their schools. Some of them come in time, some are late. The sight of their schoolbuses provide a great relief that they could reach the schools now.

“Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Nehi to logo-se laj aa rahi thi

Pahrai ki tumse wajeh mil gayi hai

Bahri bewajeh zindegi ja rahi thi

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Raste se chale school ke liye ye khabar mujhe thi magar

Koyi bhi traffic jaha ja mila wohi tum rukoge

Raste se chale school ke liye ye khabar mujhe thi magar

Koyi bhi traffic jaha ja mila wohi tum rukoge

Ke hum tak tumhari dhunya aa rahi thi

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Nehi to logo-se laj aa rahi thi

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Tiffin liya nehi dost aya nehi jane ye kaisa hai safar

Kwabo ke diye ankho me liye school jaa rahe the

Tiffin liya nehi dost aya nehi jane ye kaisa hai safar

Kwabo ke diye ankho me liye school jaa rahe the

Uha se tumhari ada dekh rahe the

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai

Nehi to logo-se laj aa rahi thi

Pahrai ki tumse wajeh mil gayi hai

Bahri bewajeh zindegi ja rahi thi

Tum aa gaye ho school aa gaya hai”

Budhaaditya (04.12.2014. at 12.10-12.31 am, Kolkata, India) Original song lyrics

Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai - (2)
Nahi to charago se lauj a rahi thi
Jeene ki tumse wajeh mil gayi hai
Badi bewajeh zindagi ja rahi thi
Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai

Kaha se chale kaha ke liye ye khabar nahi thi magar
Koi bhi seera jaha ja mila wahi tum miloge
Ke ham tak tumhari duwa aa rahi thi
Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai
Nahi to charago se lau ja rahi thi
Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai

Din duba nahi rat dubi nahi jane kaisa hai safar
Khwabo ke diye aankho mein liye wahi aa rahe the
Jaha se tumhari sada aa rahi thi
Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai
Nahi to charago se lau ja rahi thi
Tum aa gaye ho nur aa gaya hai

When I’ll be dead….., your tears will flow,.. But I won’t know… Cry for me now instead ! you will send flowers,.. But I won’t see… Send them now instead ! you’ll say words of praise,.. But I won’t hear.. Praise me now instead ! you’ll forget my faults,.. But I won’t know… Forget them now, instead ! you’ll miss me then,… But I won’t feel… Miss me now, instead ! you’ll wish… you could have spent more time with me,… Spend it now instead !! Moral…… ”Spend time with every person you love, every one you care for. Make them feel special, for you never know when time will take them away from you forever’ .. Source Joseph Dinabandhu Das
